jobbade nio till fyra idag, drog sedan till Åbo med Maj. Vi gick på bio och åt ihjäl oss på godis, det var nice som vanligt. Imorgon lär väl bli en tråkig dag men på fredag är det ruisrock. Längtar ihjäl mig.

"I’ve read a very interesting thing on tumblr. It was an explanation about why girls shouldn’t be football fans:

1. They look at the players as objects and judge them on looks instead of ability 2. Most girls support multiple football clubs and never attend games. 3. They lack passion

I was going to ignore it, but it seems so ignorant that I can’t pass the opportunity to educate him and other males who might think the same way on how girls can be football fans.

1. That’s a very generalized opinion, and not a very accurate one. If you only like a player for his looks, you would get bored very easily, because his life is football, that’s what he does. You don’t watch a show merely because the actor or actress is fine as hell. For that you watch porn or stare at pictures. There’s something else. Girls who like football players for the way they look don’t bother to create tumblrs, express opinions on the matter or watch the football games. Why would they watch 90 minutes to get glances of a player? It doesn’t make sense. Also, there is nothing wrong if a girl started liking the looks of a player and then her attention shifted to the sport itself. Starting to like something for “the wrong reasons" is not bad at all. Also, men also treat players as objects. How many times have you heard men saying incredibly racist things because a player is not performing well? Isn’t that treating someone as an object? Maybe not a sexual one, but that’s not how you treat a person. 

2. You don’t have to blindly support one club only to be considered a football fan. Football fan, fan of football, the sport. What’s wrong with enjoying other teams? Actually, when men only watch their club play and only follow what happens there and cannot appreciate other clubs, I seriously question them as football fans. If you like the sport, you can see the skills, the effort and the great strategy of multiple players, clubs and coaches. You don’t have to love or support them, but classifying them all as shit doesn’t seem very logical. Being a football enthusiast means you’re excited by the sport, you see the good in it, and dismissing every one else just because they’re not in your club does not make you a football fan, it makes you a narrow minded self centered person. And attending games has nothing to do with gender. It’s more of an economic  or geographic issue than anything else. 

3. I don’t really know what was meant by this, but if there’s one thing you can see around here is that these girls are passionate. Don’t talk about things you don’t know. The fact that you say this clearly means you haven’t been around girls who like the sport. You’re talking about something you had very little contact with. What is passion for football anyway? Taking your shirts off, crying, making tattoos of crests, joining organized cheers? Get into ridiculous fights, not listening to what others have to say, burning other teams’ jerseys? People experience football in many ways, we are not all the same. 

Sure, there are girls out there who love a certain player but have no idea what an offside is. Like there are guys out there who love Angelina Jolie but can’t name a single movie she’s been on. Generalizing is bad, you can’t put everyone in the same bag. And football is not a male exclusive. And if a lot more women were involved in the sport, we’d definitely see less sad scenes on the stands. But because of things like these, loads of girls are afraid of saying their opinions out loud because they will automatically be labelled as fangirls. They are confined to a computer. This is no different from any form of discrimination. But I can guarantee that any girl here can kick your ignorant ass when it comes to football knowledge. I know I can, because being a man does not automatically make you an expert in football. Gender has nothing to do with it. You can judge people by their knowledge on the sport, but not what’s between their legs."
